The heart has so many colours

"The heart has so many colours"

Painter Esben Hanefelt is world famous for his colorful illustrations of fairytales and fabled stories. A selection of his works is assembled for the exhibition "The heart has so many colours."

Esben Hanefelt found favour with the Danes consciousness in the early 1990s with his illustrations for the Picture Bible. The book is published in more than 20 countries, and both Chinese and Americans have become acquainted with the colorful illustrator.

Since then he has made countless colorful works. Nature is an integrated and ample element of Esben Hanefelt´s paintings and the wealth of details draws you on adventures in the universe of the painting. He has both illustrated tales like "The Little Mermaid" and the story of "Noah's Ark," but mostly he creates his very own stories with the brush.

"The stories are queuing up in my head, and the joy to tell is important to me. I want to contribute to that people are not historyless, "emphasizes Esben Hanefelt, who has worked as an artist full-time the last 16 years. During the years his talent has also spread to chruch decotations and design of three porcelain scuplutures for Royal Copenhagen, for which he in 2002 received a so-called Formland Price.

From 10 October to 22 November he will exhibit a selection of his paintings in the Utzon Center with the title "The heart has so many colors."

"Many people think coldly and analytically about things, but I believe that we become happier people when we pause and look inwards. Therefore, I also hope that people will look at my paintings with the heart. My own heart is filled with colors, "says Esben Hanefelt. KUNSTEN (Museum of Modern Art Aalborg) is behind the exhibition.
